FSD 12.3.6 brings Autopark and Tesla Vision Park Assist
Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised version 12.3.6 has brought two new capabilities Autopark and High Fidelity Vision Park Assist for Teslas with Ultrasonic Sensors. These changes are first driving through version 12.3.6 with software package version 2024.3.25.
With an update in 2021, Tesla transitioned to Vision, a camera-based autopilot system. It discontinued the radar-based system and started selling Vision-based cars. The EV maker then launched a vision-based occupancy network in place of USS.
During the transition, the company didn’t find the occupancy network’s performance in parity with the USS. Therefore, the company disabled some key features including Autopark and Summon. However, it was said that the company will relaunch these features once the performance of new hardware becomes eligible for public users.
Now, these capabilities are once again enabled for USS cars, which is a good relief for Tesla owners.
Tesla Vision Park Assist
It now displays a high-fidelity 3D representation of the world around your vehicle, including the proximity and shape of nearby objects, barriers, vehicles, and painted road markings.
You can use Park Assist with or without audible feedback. To turn chimes on or off, go to Controls > Safety > Park Assist Chimes.
Note that Park Assist is for guidance purposes only and is not a substitute for an alert driver. Remain attentive and avoid obstacles as required.
Autopark:
When you’re driving at low speed, your display highlights potential parking spaces. Autopark shows a circular P symbol to suggest a space, but you can choose any highlighted space.
To start parking, stop the vehicle, press Start, and release the steering wheel so it can move freely. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for more details.
As with all Autopilot features, you must continue to pay attention and be ready to take immediate action including canceling Autopark.
Rollout:
You should know that the new FSD 12.3.6 is released in batches and it may take some time to cover all FSD subscribers.
