Apple rolls out second iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 developer beta [Update: Public Beta Too]
Update: Apple is now releasing public beta 2 of iOS 17.5 test operating software for iPhones. Go to Settings > General > Software Update > select iOS 17 Public Beta > Download or simply push the download button.
Apple today has released the second beta of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 for developers as the company keeps testing new features to adjust its recent changes made for European users.
Last month, Apple made a major shift in its policy for the global and European markets with iOS 17.4. The company has opened the iOS operating system for third-party developers to comply with the European Digital Service Act.
It enables iOS users to choose the default web browser and install iOS apps outside the App Store. These are exclusive changes for European iPhone users. It means no such functionality for global consumers.
However, Apple has been testing new additions to these Europe-specific capabilities. That includes downloading apps directly from the developer’s website. Developers who comply with Apple’s app publishing guidelines will be able to serve the app directly from their server.
While downloading, the iPhone will trigger an installation notification to the user to confirm the installation.
The second iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 beta is available for iOS developers and can be downloaded from the settings. You must choose developer beta from the options to receive this new software build.
Apple will release this new software for public iOS users once testing concludes.
