Tesla announces Spring 2024 Features update for Model 3/Y/S/X
Tesla today has officially announced Spring 2024 update features for Tesla Model S, Y, S, and X. These additions will improve the vehicles’ performance and user experience.
Here are the new features:
- Visual updates
- Auto Shift Beta
- Audible
- Spotify Queue & Playback speed
- Hands-Free Trunk
- Sentry Mode Recordings Preview
- More Regenerative Braking
- More information for Rear passengers
Visual Updates
The new update for Model 3 and Model (with AMD chips) will bring full-screen controls in Park mode. It includes large playback controls and quick access to the media player including:
- Recent
- Favorites
- Up Next
The UI will get new expandable autopilot driving visuals with a smaller map in the top right for trip guidance.

Auto Shift Beta
In addition to shifting out of Park (P), Auto Shift Beta for Model S and Model X 2021 and later models will enable shift between Drive (D) and Reverse (R) based on your vehicle’s surroundings.
You can check the Auto Shift (beta) through Vehicle’s settings > Pedals & Steering and then Auto Shift (Beta).
Audible
The audiobook and podcast service app is now available as a native media app in Teslas.
Spotify:
Tesla owners can now sync Spotify song queues across vehicles and devices and adjust playback speed.
Hands-Free Trunk:
This feature in Model S and X 2021 (including later models) and Upgraded Tesla Model 3 will open the vehicle’s trunk when you stand still behind the trunk with the Phone Key.
To enable this feature you need to access Vehicle settings > Locks > Hands-Free Trunk.
Sentry Mode Recordings Preview:
You will be able to preview the sentry mode recordings on your phone if the alarm is triggered by pressing and holding the notification. I’ve explained this feature separately here.
Increased Regen Braking:
This new capability is coming for Model S and X 2021 and later. At high speeds, your Tesla will allow for more regenerative braking. It means that these models will be able to generate more energy for the battery.
Passengers:
Rear passengers can now see current trip details, time, and temperature at the top of the rear touchscreen.
