Mercedes USA reports EV sales increase in Q1 2024

Mercedes USA has reported the first quarter (Q1) 2024 with a 5 percent year-over-year improvement compared to the same quarter last year. The company sold 66,570 passenger vehicles and 16,053 vans in the past three months.

Among the electric vehicles, Mercedes-Benz EQB sold 671 units compared to the 2,025 units in the first quarter of 2023. It is a solid 67 percent year-over decline. The EQS model accounted for 2,552 vehicles compared to 4,759 cars in Q1 2023 with a 46 percent yearly decline.

However, the EQE model ramped up 5,113 vehicle sales with a robust 163 percent year-over growth compared to 1,944 vehicles sold last year in Q1. The company has not shared figures for its eSprinter electric.

The carmaker says its electric vehicle (EV) group sales mix 13 percent of overall sales in the first quarter. Vans group sales now increased 15 percent and passenger car sales improved 5 percent.

Among the top-end models, Mercedes-Benz G-Class improved 6 percent with 3,007 units. The groups’ AMG-high-performance models compiled 10,207 unit sales. Maybach on the other hand marked a 9 percent increase yearly.

“Mercedes-Benz EVs accounted for 13% of our total group sales volume in Q1, combined with a healthier supply of our GLC and the addition of the new E-Class and new CLE Coupe to our Core portfolio,” said Dimitris Psillakis, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA.
