Microsoft and OpenAI announces AI Hub in London

Microsoft is expanding its foot further in Artificial intelligence and the next phase of development led it to London where it will open a new AI Hub.

The company announced AI Hub will research language models and their supporting infrastructure. The hub will work as a collaboration point with AI teams in London and partners including OpenAI.

Jordan Hoffmann, former AI researcher at Inflection and Google’s DeepMind will lead the Microsoft AI hub in London. He will be joined by Microsoft’s AI team members from the Paddington office.

With this new research facility, the American software company wants to acquire a new talent pool from the U.S. It also plans to increase investment in the country. The company will open new job recruitment for various posts related to AI.

The latest announcement from Microsoft adds to an existing research lab in Cambridge. It recently announced 2.5 billion GBP investment to improve its workforce for AI development and infrastructure for the AI economy. Microsoft also committed 20,000 advanced GPUs to the country by 2026.
