Tesla could launch FSD subscriptions in Canada by this month. The latest commitment from the electric vehicle (EV) company comes amid the expansion of the FSD trial.

Rohan Patel, Senior VP of policy at Tesla shared information about the FSD subscription release status. He said that the subscription would be ready before the FSD trials ended.

FSD Trial:

Tesla is giving users a 30-day trial period to test full self-driving (FSD) capability without any charges. The trial enables FSD to drive the vehicle through different traffic situations. It can change lanes, turn left and right, and detect on-road vehicles and objects.

It can detect pedestrian and road signals to respond accordingly. However, Tesla FSD is “Supervised” and requires the driver to pay attention to take control if required.

Eligible Tesla owners are receiving FSD trial information via emails. In most cases, the trial will end before April 30, 2024. Still, the company doesn’t have FSD subscriptions available in Canada.

This led to a concern about how customers would retain FSD capability after the trial ended. In that case, Tesla is saying that the subscription service would launch during the trial period. The subscription service will be offered to first-trial participants among others.

Price:

Patel also confirmed that Tesla will keep the subscription price in parity with the U.S. It costs $199 per month for basic autopilot to FSD capability and $99 per month for enhanced autopilot to FSD.

These could be around 269 and 134 Canadian dollars respectively for both plans. The prices are not officially announced by Tesla.

What’s stopping Tesla from launching the FSD subscription in Canada?

The company has been holding back the subscription launch due to regulatory procedures. Tesla said it is working with the Canadian transport department to bring FSD subscriptions and keeps delaying.

But it seems like the FSD subscriptions are finally making their way to the Canadian Tesla owners.
