Tesla CEO wants new customers take FSD 12 demo drive

Tesla has been testing the new FSD Beta version 12 internally and subscribers, and CEO Elon Musk wants to give an FSD Beta demo drive to those who take delivery of a new Tesla.

An email shared by Tesla enthusiast @WholeMarsBlog on X reveals Musk’s intent to make this new change before delivering the vehicle to its owner.

“Going forward, it is mandatory in North America to install and activate FSD V12.3.1 and take customers on a short test ride before handling the car,” wrote Musk in the email.

He mentioned bringing this user experience upfront to the customers about supervised FSD and how it performs in the real world.

FSD or full self-driving is a set of hardware and software technologies that allow the vehicle to drive through different traffic on its own. However, it’s not autonomous driving and requires the driver’s full attention.

Its version 12 has a new change in operations powered by end-to-end neural networks. It allowed the company to remove the massive manual code library and train the FSD 12 system using millions of video clips.

Feedback from the FSD 12 tester shows that the drive is now more natural compared to FSD Beta v11. Yesterday, Tesla began to release FSD v12.3.1 which will soon expand to a wide range of subscribers in the U.S.

Delivery Time:

Tesla chief also acknowledges that the FSD demonstration drive will slow down the delivery process but he thinks it is a hard requirement to fulfill.

Some suggestions arrived from the Tesla community to improve what Musk has been thinking about the FSD test drive.

One of the suggestions includes a free FSD subscription tier for 1-2 months or maybe 3 in some cases to subscribe to the FSD in the long term. This may also improve the user experience for new customers.
