Tesla has now officially confirmed the rollout of autopark feature for Tesla cars across the U.S. Early this morning, an X user shared a video clip demonstrating the autopark capability in Tesla Model Y.

The feature allows the car to automatically park after the user chooses an available parking space in the parking lot.

Over the past three years, Tesla made numerous changes in its cars including the removal of the radar system. It was replaced with camera-based Tesla vision.

The ultrasonic sensor (USS) is also removed and replaced by the Tesla vision-based occupancy network. However, the company didn’t find the performance of the occupancy network competitive with the USS back then.

As a result, USS-based features including autopark and smart summon have been disabled or limited. But the company promised to bring them back in the future with the over-the-air (OTA) software.

The rollout of autopark is currently limited to the first batch of Tesla car owners with version 2024.2.12. Other than autopark, the build features brings better visualization.

The autopark and improved visualization will expand to more models and Tesla owners in the coming week.
