Tesla FSD Beta v12.3.1 to rollout this week

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk said that the full self-driving (FSD) Beta v12.3.1 software update will be released this week for the existing testers for the version 12 series.

Musk mentioned that the v12.3.1 comes with new fixes for small issues found in the past version of the FSD and improves the autopilot experience. There’s no certainty if the rollout is pushed to next week.

Last week, Tesla released FSD Beta v12.3 internally for employees and a wide range of subscribers across the U.S. The testing pool has been expanded to get more feedback.

Impressions of the FSD reveal that the software has a human-like driving experience compared to version 11. The lane changing has been improved and it handles roundabouts with ease.

The new version is quite careful with pedestrian interactions and smoothens pedestrian detection.

Tesla says that the FSD v12 software comes with end-to-end neural networks trained on millions of video clips. Subsequently, the build replaces over 300,000 lines of manual C++ code.

Still, some issues have been spotted by the testers including confusion which remains persistent in certain scenarios. For example, the new auto-max speed limit setting which sometimes drives a bit too slow or causes hesitation in acceleration.

One of the users explains that the FSD rotates between varying speeds for “no obvious reason during stretches of road where it should remain consistent.” Another user found that the FSD has been confused about parking the car in parking lots.

Tesla FSD is a collection of advanced driver assistance features with active guidance and assisted driving. However, it’s not an autonomous technology and requires the driver’s attention.
