Tesla Cybertruck getting update with one-time charge limit, trailer alarm, auto wipers, and more
Tesla is sending a 2024.8.4 software update for the Tesla Cybertruck with a new one-time charge limit, trailer alarm, and other additions. This version is detected on some models and gradually expands for more users. Make sure to look at the build versions 2024.8 and 2024.8.4.
The 2024.8.4 addresses key fixes in the system. So, Cybertruck owners can get some issues fixed and feature improvements after installation.
The rest of the changes come under the 2024.8 build including:
Charging limit
You can choose the one-time charge option while planning a road trip. This option will be available when you increase the Charge Limit beyond the daily driving recommendation.
After this, Cybertruck will reset the charging limit to the previous daily driving charge limit.
Trailer Alarm
Cybertruck’s alarm will monitor its trailer for actions such as “plugged into the hitch”. The trailer alarm is set and turned off along with the vehicle alarm.
Users will have the option to disable this security feature in the settings at “Towing and Hauling” and then enter “Trailer Alarm”. From here you can tweak this option.
Rear Headphones
The update brings new rear passenger headphones connection capability. This allows rear seat passengers to connect wireless Bluetooth headphones when watching shows or playing games on the passenger display.
Passengers can connect headphones at App Launcher > Rear Display > Settings > Add New Device. From here, you need to turn on the headphones. This feature supports up to two headphones at once.
View/Reset Tire Mileage:
This capability enables one to view the traveled driving range since the last tire service. To check this information, you need to open vehicle settings then go to Service and navigate to the upper right corner.
Auto Wipers:
This capability has its history of bugs in Tesla vehicles but the latest update for Cybertruck is somewhat different. Wipers now have Auto settings that detect “precipitation” and adjust the wiping speed and intensity.
Still, when the user enables Autopilot, the wipers will turn to Auto mode.
Other than these, Tesla is bringing some new security improvements.
