Summon and Autopark (banish) coming next month for Tesla vehicles
Tesla will rollout two much-awaited capabilities – Summon and Autopark (Banish) mode next month for Tesla vehicles. The latest confirmation is coming directly from the company’s CEO, Elon Musk.
“Major improvements coming for Summon & Banish (Autopark) next month,” wrote Tesla CEO on social media site X on Sunday.

Removal
In October 2022, Tesla removed ultrasonic sensors (USS) from Model 3 and Model Y followed by Model S and Model X in 2023. The company took this step in order to transition to camera-based vision.
The company also launched a vision-based occupancy network used in Full Self-Driving (FSD) Beta to replace the input generated by USS.
Tesla says that the occupancy network allows vehicles to achieve spatial positioning, long-range visibility, and the ability to identify and differentiate between objects.
Despite the new improvements, Tesla disabled autopark and smart summon features from Tesla vehicles. The company however announced to resume both of these once the occupancy network matches performance with USS.
Autpark automatically takes the vehicle into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces. Smart Summon allows you to move a Tesla vehicle to your location which uses the phone’s GPS as a target location. A user can also summon the vehicle to a location of choice or take the Tesla model out of parking spaces and around corners.
The vision-based system equips numerous cameras on the front and rear bumpers of the vehicle.
Resuming smart summon and autopark features suggests that the occupancy network has gained momentum in comparison to the USS.
