Power tonneau cover now available for Rivian R1T at $500

Rivian has announced that its power tonneau cover for Rivian R1T is now available at $500. It’s available for selected R1T configurations. You can order the available configurations to get the delivery within 1-4 weeks.

According to the configurator, the Rivian R1T is available with a manual tonneau cover, which costs $1,800. The company has not yet added the powered tonneau cover in the configurator.

A powered tonneau cover is an optional feature for the Rivian R1T. It has a retractable cover that opens and closes electronically at the touch of a button.

The powered cover was removed as an option from the configurator. Since then the company has been offering manual tonneau cover and no tonneau cover option for R1Ts.

Some of the R1T owners reported issues with their powered tonneau covers. The company said it has completed in-field testing for the updated powered tonneau cover. The new units are powering well in terms of durability and repeatability.

The updated design brings subcomponent design issues and improves the tonneau cover’s robustness against manufacturing build variants. However, the design and the functionality of the extension will remain identical.

The manual tonneau cover on the other hand is built with four interlocking panels made with durable aluminum and composite that slides in and out of the bed’s integrated side rails.

The panels are stored in a cargo bag and fit easily in the gear tunnel while there’s no use. The manual tonneau cover is lockable.
