Apple acquires DarwinAI before iOS 18 release

Apple is working on new AI stuff for the next iOS versions and the company now reportedly acquired DarwinAI, a visual quality inspection company from Canada.

Bloomberg reports that most of the DarwinAI team members have joined Apple and its researcher Alexandar Wong is now a director in Apple’s AI development camp.

The company has confirmed this buyout in a statement which appeared to be not a big deal for Apple as reflected in the one-line phrase.

Apple will launch the next iPhone software at this year’s WWDC and the company may be launching new generative AI technologies.

Some of these could enlarge the iOS experience for iPhone users. Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook promised to bring some breakthroughs in the mobile software industry with an upcoming release using AI.

The company has plans to upgrade the chip architecture in order for on-board generative AI capabilities.

Not only iOS but Apple will implement the new AI features throughout its ecosystem including macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and others.
