Tesla Policy Head, Rohan Patel said that the full self-driving (FSD) Beta software version 12.3 is ‘phenomenal’ as he explains his experience with this new release.

A few days ago, Tesla rolled out a 2023.44.30.25 software for employees and selected FSD Beta subscribers. The update brings FSD Beta V12.3 with new improvements.

“12.3 is phenomenal. So much encouraging progress. My trip to work this morning was mind blowing” Patel posted on X.

The Tesla executive revealed that the trip includes 4 roundabouts including DuPont Circle, construction issues in Massachusetts, potholes in Connecticut, speedbumps in the neighborhood, multiple unprotected left runs, and more.

“12.3 is the read deal and getting better and better” he concluded.

Confusion

Tesla has been releasing new build versions for the FSD 12 series. The software is still in Beta mode but brings a major change in functionality.

After version 12, all of the driving and on-road decisions are led by the new end-to-end neural network. It is trained with data from millions of video clips.

Tesla confirmed that most of the manual driving code has been removed compared to version 11. However, the recent builds of Tesla FSD Beta V12.x have shown a confusion issue during intersection and some freeway driving scenarios.

Version 12.3 is expected to fix these issues and bring a better driving performance.

Limited

Tesla version 12.3 is limited to internal testing and a few selected FSD subscribers while there’s no information available about a broader public testing.
