It includes new third-party app installation support for iOS users to allow them to sideload apps from sources other than the App Store. iPhones outside of Europe will remain closed-source with the App Store even after installing iOS 17.4.

Other changes from the list consist of many developer-friendly APIs that will help them access more iPhone hardware. Users can now set the default apps for their browser and NFC hardware would be available for more of the banking system across the region.

iOS 17.4 installed new transcripts for Apple Podcasts. It allows you to read the full text of an episode, search for a specific word or phrase, and tap on the text to play the podcast from that point in the episode.

There are also new emojis such as mushroom, phoenix, lime, broken chain, and more. Currently, there’s no date announced for the release of iOS 17.4.1 software.
