Tesla FSD subscriptions coming soon to Canada

Rohan Patel, Policy Head at Tesla said that the EV maker is working on Full Self Driving (FSD) subscriptions for Canada and suggested that a new update on this matter coming soon.

The latest response from Patel came on a question asked by Teslascope on whether the company is planning to release FSD subscriptions for Canadian Tesla owners.

“Asking on behalf of Canadian vehicle owners: is there anything legally Tesla from making FSD capability subscriptions available in the region?” posted the Tesla insider.

Patel said that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has approved the FSD subscription plan for Canada. The company is working on the development of FSD subscriptions and filing regulatory approval.

“The team is working on technical and regulatory procedures to make sure we don’t trigger any unintended provincial issues.” wrote Patel on social media site X.

For a potential launch date, the company official speculates to release FSD subscriptions in the coming weeks.

With this capability, Tesla cars can access several advanced driver assistance features for a hands-free driving experience (it’s not autonomous). Currently, Tesla is offering FSD at $16,000 along with a new car model in Canada.

In the U.S., Tesla vehicles with Full Self-Driving computer 3.0 or above and Basic Autopilot or Enhanced Autopilot are eligible to subscribe to FSD. You can check your Autopilot configuration from your car’s touch screen using: Controls > Software > Additional Vehicle Information.

You can also check your configuration in the Tesla app by selecting “Vehicle” and then “Specs and Warranty”.

FSD subscription is affected by the existing Autopilot package of basic and enhanced Autopilot and ranges as the following across the U.S.

Tesla owners with a Basic Autopilot subscription will have to pay $199 per month to subscribe to FSD. Enhanced Autopilot users will have to pay $99 per month to subscribe to FSD.

These prices may vary in Canada but are currently unknown.
