Toby Pehlen, an xAI team member said that new improvements are coming to the Grok AI chatbot to increase the response speed on each user prompt.

Grok is a large language model (LLM) designed and developed by xAI. It is now a part of the social media site X and available as early access for users with a Premium+ monthly subscription.

Pehlen also posted a short video demonstration of the capability Grok is getting and asked “Is xAI hiring in London?”. The AI took about 2-3 seconds to search for the information and share the response.

Compared to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini, Grok takes information from X (formerly Twitter). The latest response shown in the video demonstration is faster than the previous version.

Igor Babuschkin, another xAI team member said that Grok has increased the speed 3 times. To demonstrate, Igor prompted “Write a 500 word story” and it took about 30 seconds for the AI to complete the story.

The response could be seen as an improvement which is also comparative with both of its top competitors. Other than these, Microsoft’s Copilot took 56 seconds to respond to the same prompt.

These team members confirmed that xAI is preparing some other new improvements that will roll out soon for all users. It is expected that the update will come as Grok 1.5 but the company has not shared a timeline.
