March 3, 2024: 01:46 EST, Tesla today announced 5,000 miles of free Supercharging for new Tesla buyers who trade in their existing vehicle to buy a new one. This offer will be valid through March 31, 2024.
Anyone who purchases a new vehicle under this offer will have to spend these free supercharging miles within the next two years. Otherwise, these 5,000 miles will expire automatically.

Trade-In:
Tesla accepts passenger cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs for trade-in for a new or used Tesla vehicle purchase. The trade-in vehicle class includes both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV). The EV maker doesn’t accept RVs or commercial vehicles for trade-ins.
You can find the trade-in value of your existing vehicle by submitting your vehicle VIN on Tesla’s Trade-in Page.
How to Trade-In:
In case you are satisfied with the trade-in value, you need to submit the vehicle information through the Tesla app to receive a trade-in offer. This information includes:
- VIN
- Odometer mileage
- Zip code
- Damage history
- Photos of the vehicle
The car company will respond through an email when the vehicle qualifies for a trade-in offer.
Tesla could ask you to hand over the vehicle, title, and a lien release if applicable during the delivery appointment. You will also be required to notify your state of the trade-in sale and confirm that you are no longer liable for the traded vehicle after the point of sale.
