iOS 18 to bring redesigned user interface but not ‘exactly’ like visionOS

iOS 18 would bring a redesigned user interface (UI) as a major change for the next generation of iPhones, says Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in this week’s Power On newsletter.

Gurman says the iPhone maker is working on a new design for iOS as early as this year but he doesn’t agree that it would look like visionOS.

The latest input about iOS appeared after rumors suggested that iOS 18 would be heavily influenced by visionOS. This new software is designed for Apple’s mixed-reality headset Vision Pro which recently started sales across the U.S.

The visionOS UI carries a translucent background and appealing interactions as well as animations. Many of the reviewers have mentioned the key characteristics of interactive with its virtual UI.

iOS on the other hand hasn’t seen any major changes for a long time. Although Apple keeps on developing new features for its customers the company hasn’t overhauled its looks.

It is mentioned that the iOS 18 will launch in the summer at WWDC but the redesigned user interface remains unknown for the time being.

Gurman shared similar indications about the next macOS which also receive a new UI overhaul from 2025 to 2026.

AI Stuff:

This year’s iOS software will focus on generative AI features which is currently a market trend. There are several apps prepared to be upgraded with these new capabilities.

iPhone 16 will be the first to come pre-equipped with a new AI chipset and the iOS 18 out of the box later this year.
