Stellantis UK announces electric vans production in 2025
Stellantis on Thursday announced the production of medium electric vans at its Luton manufacturing plant in the UK which will start in the first half of 2025.
Luton is the second Stellantis plant in the UK to produce electric vehicles (EV) to ramp up its products in the UK’s medium-sized electric vans market.
The plans come after the company started EV production at Ellesmere Port in 2023 and the new production will contribute to Stellantis EV strategy across Europe. The carmaker aims to produce a limited volume of electric medium vans during the Spring of next year.
Established in 1905, the Luton plant assembled its first commercial vehicles in 1932. Panel vans VYC and VXC were the first to come out from the production line.
Production:
The plant will manufacture fully electric Vauxhall Vivaro Electric, Opel Vivaro Electric, Peugeot E-Expert, Citroen e-Dispatch, and Fiat Professional E-Scudo in both left and right-hand drive.
Usually, the produce aims for right-hand vehicles through this plant but it will also supply left-hand drives as well. Other than these, the company will keep on producing combustion engine vehicles.
New Vauxhall Vivaro Electric produced at this new plant uses a 75kWh battery with a 100kW electric motor. It could provide a WLTP drive range of up to 217 miles with fast charging to complete 5-58 percent battery charge in 45 minutes with a 100kW charger.
