Wisconsin sending EV Hybrid license plate stickers for first responders safety
Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division announced on Friday that it will send new EV Hybrid stickers to electric and hybrid vehicles.
This move follows a 2023 Wisconsin law that requires electric and hybrid vehicle owners must use orange and black “EV Hybrid” stickers on license plates.
It aims to ensure the safety of first responders when approaching electric vehicles in emergencies. These new EV Hybrid stickers will allow first responders to identify the EVs and take necessary precautions related to potential electrical hazards.
Wisconsin hosts 146,000 electric and hybrid vehicles in 2023, reveals data from DMV.
The transportation department will automatically send stickers to valid owners and these are mandatory to be installed by June 2024. The sticker is designed for standard-sized license plates including auto, light truck, and more.
These stickers will patched to the upper right corner of each plate, just to the right of the bolt holes.
Starting Summer, those who apply for title and registration for a new electric vehicle will receive stickers with their new plate pre-installed.
Anyone who receives their EV or Hybrid before Summer will receive the sticker by mail. All of the stickers will be provided by the DMV without any contact or request.
