Tesla gets approval to rollout adaptive headlights for Model S and X

Tesla has received approval to deploy the adaptive headlights feature for the Tesla Model X, and Model S in Europe in addition to Model Y and legacy Model 3.

Tesla recently released the adaptive headlights feature for the Upgraded Model 3 through an over-the-air (OTA) software update.

Regulatory approval from Europe has revealed that the Tesla Model S and Model X will also get adaptive high-beam light with future software rollouts. This comes as an addition to a similar regulatory clearance for legacy Model 3 and Model Y (via Driveteslacanada).

Matrix LED:

The feature is based on the new matrix LED which is an adaptive driving beam (ADB) system. It consists of individual and separately controllable LEDs that can work together with an electronic control unit (ECU).

The Matrix light is designed to adjust the lighting based on the lane traffic and improve visibility at night time without generating glare to other drives coming from the front.

Wide Release:

Matrix headlight is already in action in the U.S. but the rollout date will be decided by the EV maker. There has been hands-on of this new headlight feature which you can check below.
