Tesla is preparing to rollout a new software update for Tesla vehicles to enable a charging plug-in reminder when the vehicle has less battery and it’s parked at home.

The new changes are coming with version 2024.2.3 and improve the user experience (via Notateslaapp).

The changelog mentioned the feature as “Reminder to Plug In at Home”. Similar to its name, the vehicle will remind Tesla owner when the vehicle has less than half of the battery capacity left (from the full charge).

For example, if your Tesla is charged to full capacity and the battery level drops to below 50 percent (after driving of course), the vehicle will remind you to plug in the charger to fill the rest of the capacity.

To use this feature, users will need to set a home location to differentiate from public superchargers. It also requires the customer to charge at least once after setting a home location.

Tesla already offers a feature in all Tesla vehicles that sends notifications through the Tesla mobile app when the battery reaches a critically low level, typically below 10 percent. This feature was also added through an over-the-air software update to address range anxiety.

Other than that, Tesla app on iPhone offers car widgets to check current battery capacity right on the smartphone.

This added functionality appears better as it could reduce the pain of forgetting the charging before you go to bed and wake up looking at the same reduced battery levels.

For now, that’s all we have on this new feature but there’s more description revelation that will be made once it rolls out for all of the users.
