General Motors (GM) CEO, Mary Barra said her company is working on fixing software issues that caused a “stop-sales” for Chevrolet Blazer EV back in December.

Barra said that GM’s software team is working on the software issues and resolving the stability issues “some customers have experienced with the Chevrolet Blazer EV” during the Q4 2023 earning presentation on Tuesday, January 30.

The issues were primarily detected in the control center and charging part of this vehicle.

“We disappointed these customers and we know it. We are determined to get the software right and we will,” said Barra.

On a further note, GM has made organizational and process improvements to improve the customer experience for future vehicles.

“Among several important organizational realignments, we established a software quality division within the software and services team that has been performing a retrospective on the Blazer EV and has improved the current software development and test processes across the enterprise,” added the GM chief.

Issues:

After a few weeks of launch, InsideEVs found that the infotainment screen went completely blank and unusable, with charging and range problems. These issues garnered massive attention and eventually, the company paused sales for these EV models.

The carmaker claimed that this issue is limited to some customers but it’s taking extra measures to deliver bug-free models.

“We are aware that a limited number of Blazer EV owners have experienced some software quality issues,” Chevrolet said in a statement. “To ensure our customers have a great experience with their vehicle, we are temporarily pausing sales of Blazer EVs. Our team is working quickly to roll out a fix, and owners will be contacted with further information on how to schedule their update. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
