Ford Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owner to get free Tesla Supercharger adapter

Ford announced today that its electric vehicle (EV) customers of Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning in the U.S. and Canada will get a free fast charging adapter for Tesla superchargers.

Ford is the first major car maker to partner with Tesla for North American Charging Standard (NACS). With this collaboration, Ford vehicles can access over 50,000 Tesla Superchargers.

Ford CEO, Jim Farley made this announcement official from his X account “When we announced @Ford EVs would get access to @Tesla Superchargers, I said we’d send customers a Fast Charging Adapter. I’m pleased to confirm that eligible #MustangMachE & #F150Lightning owners in the U.S. + Canada”.

Farley also mentioned that customers in North America can reserve their charger adapter. There’s no exact date shared for the deliveries at the moment.

“This is our way of saying thank you! We want to make charging more convenient for our Ford EV owners, so we’re excited to add Tesla chargers.” Farley added.

Aside from the adapter, the Ford will start using the NACS charging port in models released in 2025 onwards. This will cut the requirement for additional adapters and add in-vehicle support for the Tesla charging network.

Ford last year sold 39,858 LIghtning pickups and 107,372 Mustang Mach-E SUVs, leading to a total number of EV sales near 150,000 throughout 2023.
