Department of Transportation for EV infrastructure in Texas has announced a $100 million grant for North Texas to install Electric Vehicle (EV) and hydrogen infrastructure.

From this fund, $15 million will be used to build 100 EV chargers in 16 North Texas counties. Approx $70 million will be invested in five hydrogen fueling stations in major cities.

The hydrogen fuel station will create a network for medium to heavy-duty freight trucks that travel through Texas. Hydrogen is the most popular alternative source compared to fossil fuels despite its doubtful ratings from critics.

The funding is part of the U.S. administration’s grant of $623 million announced on January 11 to increase EV charging infrastructure in urban, rural, and suburban areas.

Carlos Monje, Department of Transportation Secretary said that the department has already announced $623 million for 47 projects in 22 states.

“Right here in Texas, you guys won $100 million of that which is a very, very solid job. congratulations” said Monje.
