Rivian R2 to launch in March at Laguna Beach
Rivian is preparing to launch its next-generation Rivian R2 vehicle in March this year reveals a new document from city council members in Laguna Beach.
Last night, the council member met in Laguna Beach, California to approve a request from Rivian to park six vehicles on the grass in a city park for a March 7th “Rivian R2 Launch Event”.
This plan suggests that the carmaker is planning to release a new Rivian R2 electric SUV to the market.
The request for approval doesn’t mention any specific purpose of this car parking but the document itself leaves some clues including the text “RIVIAN R2 LAUNCH V11.pln.”
Since Rivian has not released an R2 vehicle, the text may be sufficient to reach an instant conclusion about the vehicle’s name.
In November, Rivian opened South Coast Theater, its first flagship retail store in Southern California at over 11,000 square feet. This retail is located at 162 South Coast Highway 15 miles away from Rivian’s Irvine headquarters.
It’s possible that the next launch could take place at this monumental store but the company is yet to say any words regarding the location.
Rivian has several new R-series vehicles planned for the near future including SUVs priced between $40,000 and $60,000. The current-gen R1 vehicles start at $80,000, therefore, a new price model could bring better options for the customers.
