Apple could further improve the iPhone 16 Pro Max camera system with a brand new camera sensor to take high-quality images and provide a better mobile photography experience.

The new information arrived from Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation who suggests that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be focused on camera technologies and will be a camera flagship.

The tipster further revealed some specifications for the main camera module featuring a 48mp main camera with an SONY IMX 903 custom sensor.

This sensor has a 1/1.14-inch large bottom and uses a dual-layer transistor to process the pixels. It has a 14-bit Analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for high-quality image data conversion and digital gain control (DCG) for better dynamic range and noise control.

Compared to this new setup, iPhone 15 Pro models offer a 1/1.28-inch sensor. However, a larger sensor has the potential to provide bright images in low light and even sharper pixels in outdoor photography scenarios.

More Camera:

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared inputs that the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will use tetraprism (periscope) zoom camera, which is currently available only in the iPhone 15 Pro Max model.

Kuo also said that the iPhone 16 Pro models will bring a new 48MP 1/2.6-inch ultra wide-angle camera for more quality in ultra-wide shots. In comparison, iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max offer 12MP 1/3.6-inch ultra wide angle.

Other than these, Apple may also make a new hardware change in the next iPhone lineup by installing a new capture button on the right side of the device frame. This would work similarly to the action button but is primarily responsible for camera-related actions.
