Toyota Motors has set a production target of 10.3 million vehicles globally in 2024, which is an increase compared to the past year.

Nikkei Asia reported on Monday that Toyota has considered this new goal in the wake of growing hybrid vehicle sales. This move is also encouraged by the easing supply shortage for chipsets and other automotive components.

To complete this aim, the Japanese car maker, including the Lexus brand, is likely to account for 3.4 million vehicles in Japan and 6.9 million vehicles in overseas markets.

Meanwhile, a company spokesperson has denied such figures or the year’s end aim.

Other than its overall target, Toyota wants to ship at least 250,000 electric vehicles in 2024 and 600,000 EVs in 2025.

Last year, Toyota reported 9.3 million cumulative sales including one-third of gasoline-electric hybrids.
