Tesla is about to announce a pay increase for its electric vehicle (EV) production factory in the U.S. according to a new report.

Tesla is in line with other automakers to increase the payment for factory workers to keep employees non-unionized in the face of rising calls from United Auto Workers (UAW) for unionization.

Sources from Bloomberg suggest that the pay increase aims at Material handlers, production associates, and quality inspectors citing a flyer posted on Tesla’s facility in Fremont California.

However, the magnitude or specific hikes are not mentioned in the flyer for these job labels.

Tesla CEO, Elon Musk has been quite vocal on UAW. He “disagrees with the idea of unions” during his interview at the New York Times DealBook Summit in November.

The raise also comes amid Tesla’s challenging time in its biggest market Sweden, which still tops the chart in terms of new Tesla sales.

Swedish workers are calling a strike against the most valuable EV maker in the world to sign a collective bargaining agreement. However, Tesla has published no official statement of a resolution on this matter.
