Mapbox partners with Hyundai to launch MapGPT in vehicles

Location service provider Mapbox and Autover, Hyundai’s software development division announced a partnership to bring a MapGPT Large Language Model (LLM) voice experience to Hyundai vehicles.

Both of these partners have agreed to develop technologies around Mapbox MapGPT. It is a location-intelligent AI voice assistant that could comprehend more natural conversations in vehicles and smartphones.

Hyundai and Mapbox have already completed the testing and integration of the software solution. Therefore, both partners are now ready to take the integration public to the commercialization phase.

Using the Mapbox location services and continuous data stream, the MapGPT keeps drivers updated with smart recommendations for smooth and accurate travel.

MapGPT will also ensure dynamic routing around traffic congestion and timely weather warnings for a safe travel experience.

Other than navigation, MapGPT can operate climate control, windows, and music using voice commands. There are plans to integrate third-party services such as OpenTable and TripAdvisor.

As an outcome, the integrated MapGPT solution is coming to Hyundai’s electric vehicles (EVs) including 3D navigation for a more visual navigation system.
