Volvo cars sees record 113K EVs and 152K PHEVs sales in the past year
Volvo has published its sales record for 2023 including a large increase of 15% in overall business compared to 2022.
Volvo 113,419 fully electric vehicles (EVs) in the past year, which is an increase of 70% compared to 2022. On the other hand, Volvo sold 152,561 plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) with a 10% growth compared to 2022.
The electrified vehicles by Volvo account for 16% of total vehicles sold by the company in 2023.
In Q4 2023, Volvo sold 76,015 cars with an increase of 5% compared to Q4 2022. Its sales in Europe reached 294,794 units in 2023 with a 19% increase over a year earlier.
The Swedish car maker in the U.S. recorded 128,701 cars with a 26% growth compared to 2022. The number of sold recharge cars increased by 28% and accounted for 28% of all cars sold in the U.S. during the year.
Throughout the past year, the Volvo XC60 kept its place as the top-selling model with 228,646 cars compared to 195,338 units sold in 2022. It was followed by XC40 with a total sales of 200,670 cars up from 169,206 cars in 2022. XC90 comes third at new 107,549 units and 97,130 units in 2022.
