This integration uses Tesla’s open APIs and allows Tesla customers for these products to manage and monitor the power status of their energy compliances through SmartThings Energy Samsung devices other than the Tesla app.

Specifically, Samsung says its SmartThing Energy can now show information about users’ energy production, storage, and usage.

Furthermore, users can check for power disruptions and outages in the SmartThings Energy’s feature to sync with the Tesla app’s Powerwall “Storm Watch” feature.

This feature comes into play in case of extreme weather events such as typhoons or heavy snowfall. It sends alerts through SmartThings on their connected Samsung TVs and mobiles in addition right from their SmartThings app even if the Tesla app is not installed.

Moreover, users have the option to activate AI Energy Mode before and during the power outage to enable power saver mode in Tesla Powerwall.

Tesla’s Andrew Baglino confirmed that this change in services happened after the release of FleetAPI, which allows third-party developers to interact with Powerwall, Solar, and Wall Connector in addition to Tesla vehicles.

“We are pleased that Samsung has chosen to be an early developer, given their leading position in consumer smart home technology. Customers will be able to view the status of their grid connectivity across multiple devices and intelligently control home loads to extend their Powerwall energy when off the grid,” said Andrew Baglinn.
