iPhone 16 Pro models to equip 48MP ultra-wide angle camera, 15 Pro used 12MP

Cameras continue to remain the priority of the smartphone industry but Apple is a slow mover in this category but some new tweaks are waiting for us with the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro including a new 48MP ultra-wide angle camera system.

Apple Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo revealed that iPhone 16 Pro models will bring a new 48MP 1/2.6-inch ultra-wide angle camera system. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro series uses a 12MP 1/3.6-inch ultra-wide angle camera.

A large camera size and high pixel count will result in more quality in images and videography for ultra-wide angle mode. also, these models will keep on using the 6p lens design for less distorted pixels.

A past report shows that iPhone 16 Pro models could increase display size to equip a periscope/tetraprism lens. Therefore, the iPhone 16 series will carry Pro and Pro Max models with tetraprism zoom.

Taiwan’s Genius Camera Technologies is also a part of the iPhone 16 Pro’s periscope lens supply chain. It will start shipping the module by the end of the second quarter or early third quarter.

This business will raise Genius’ business revenue by NT$3 billion in the second half of 2024.

The shipment of large display panels is expected to increase by 10-15% compared to the iPhone 15 Pro series. Largan Precision is the main supplier of tetraprism lens supplier in the iPhone 16 Pro series supply chain.

Yet, the Genius will take a major share in the iPhone 16 Pro’s ultra-wide angle lens.

Apple usually releases its year’s only iPhone series in the second half of the year.
