Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 restores online sales in US
After a ban pause, Apple has now restored the online sales of Watch Series 9 and Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches via Apple Store in the U.S.
Earlier this month, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) ruled in favor of Masimo, which complained against Apple and announced a ban on the import of the latest Apple watches.
Masimo accuses Apple has infringing its patented medical equipment technology and also hiring its employees to use this tech in its latest smartwatches.
Apple denied these allegations and filed an appeal at the Court of Appeals seeking a stay on the ban. Initially, Apple pulled Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 from online and offline sales channels.
Meanwhile, this case was also tabled on at the White House but the highest office in the U.S. also upheld ITC’s ruling and ban activated with full effect by December 26.
Interstingly, The court on Tuesday paused the ban, allowing Apple to sell the model in discussion.
However, ITC has until January 10 to file a response to Apple’s request for a stay and the tech maker has a January 15 window to submit further arguments to support or oppose the import ban.
Therefore, Apple would be able to sell these watches at least until the court of appeals comes up with a decision.
