Apple Vision Pro 2 could get brighter displays with RGB OLEDoS technology
Apple Vision Pro 2 mixed reality headset is now in the conversation and it could get brighter displays as compared to its yet-to-sell first version.
Korean media TheLec reported that Apple could upgrade the Vision Pro to an RGB OLEDoS display in 2027. For now, the company has announced WOLED in the first-gen model.
An RGB OLEDoS, known as RGB OLED on Silicon is a new type of display technology. It is designed to improve the photos and videos, especially for extended reality (XR) products.
OLEDoS provides high resolution as compared to traditional OLEDs. It could be the best solution for XR applications where resolution is the key drive of the product.
It provides brighter colors with the use of separate RGB subpixels. Furthermore, OLEDoS takes lower operation power. One of the key advantages of using this technology is its thin and light design, which is convenient for devices such as headsets.
With these promising benefits, the technology is still in an early phase of development. It also has some challenges including low yield rate and high cost of manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Apple is preparing to put the first generation of Apple Vision Pro on the shelves by January-February in 2024. This mixed reality headset covers AR and VR applications and is priced at 3499.
