Apple resumes Watch 9 and Ultra 2 sales after ban pause
Yesterday, Apple marked a major win with a pause on its watch ban and resumed sales of Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 smartwatches.
The U.S. appeals court on Wednesday paused ITC’s ruling of an import ban on these two smart wearables over a patent infringement filed by medical equipment company Masimo.
The current sales resume is temporary until the US Court of Appeals comes forward with a conclusion on this matter. Meanwhile, Apple can sell its new watches in public.
Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 with blood oxygen measurement feature will be available to purchase in the U.S. at Apple Stores starting Wednesday and online at noon PT on Thursday.
In the backdrop, Masimo accused Apple of hiring its talent and applying its patented pulse oximetry technology in the smartwatches. On the other hand, Apple has denied these allegations.
The matter also reached at White House, while some predicted that the Biden Administration could veto the ITC’s ruling. However, the White House also declined to intervene in this situation and upheld the ban by December 26.
Furthermore, Apple is preparing to redesign its smartwatches to remove infringing technology, so that the new models could be improved without any objections.
