Tesla has marked a landmark achievement in 2023 with 20,000 car registrations in Sweden amid the ongoing strike from the Swedish labor union.

“Over 20k cars registered this year so far, thank you to our team and owners in Sweden,” wrote Tesla Europe & Middle East on X, formerly known as Twitter.

According to the data collected by Piloly, Tesla sales in Sweden increased gradually throughout the year and the second half of this year contributed a large growth for the overall sales leading to 20K sales in Sweden.

Strike:

Despite these growing numbers, the Swedish labor union has opened a strike under the leadership of IF Metall, the largest Swedish union. It wants Tesla to sign a collective bargaining agreement for employee terms and other demands.

Recently, the neighbor union also extended support for their Swedish counterparts blocking Tesla shipments toward Sweden. Throughout this time, the strike also affected Tesla’s license plate shipments.

A Swedish court last week rejected Tesla’s appeal to force domestic postal services Postnord to supply its license plates.

For now, Tesla has not addressed the ongoing strike or confirmed any settlement with the Swedish union.
