Apple recently granted a patent with the number 2322474.6M001 regarding a new technology for a MagSafe battery pack featuring a new port.

The sketch in the patent shows an Apple MagSafe Battery Pack device that has two charging ports, one is for the lighting and the other one is a USB Type C port.

Starting the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple has switched the charging interface to USB Type C to comply with all of the charging options for consumers.

The device doesn’t contain any other interface or input-output options than the top side. This emergence suggests that there might be some possibility that Apple could bring back the MagSafe battery pack with new hardware changes. However, Apple has no comments on the future version of the MagSafe battery pack.

Released in 2021, the MagSafe Battery Pack was priced at $99 and but discontinued in late 2023 right after the iPhone 15 launch event.

Apple MagSafe is used for wireless charging featuring built-in magnets in iPhone 12 and later models. These magnets help the charging device to perfectly align the charging coil of the connected device.

Compared to Qi charging, MagSafe chargers offer faster charging speeds including 15W charging with a connected cable.

Equipping this technology, the MagSafe battery pack provides safe wireless charging to iPhone models. You just need to patch the MagSafe battery pack on the back of the iPhone to charge and pull it off to disconnect.
