Electric vehicle (EV) maker Rivian has selected Clayco construction firm to build its EV manufacturing plant at Stanton Springs, Georgia.

The new plant expands to 1,800-acre and it would create approximately 7,500 employment opportunities, while it’s expected to become functional by 2026.

Back in 2021, Rivian announced an expansion in its manufacturing operation in Georgia with a $5-billion site development and manufacturing investment.

The plant is also estimated to produce upto 400,000 vehicles per year. The construction is expected to begin in summer 2022 and production in 2024. However, it seems like these plans are running late.

The Rivian plant is the latest addition to Clayco’s projects. In August this year, Clayco broke ground on the $4 billion VinFast EV manufacturing plant in Moncure, North Carolina. Last September, the construction firm broke ground on a $1.5 billion battery separator plant in Indiana.

In addition to Clayco, Rivian will be supported by Jacobs as the engineer of record and Skidmore, Owning & Merril (SOM) as a design architect.
