AT&T will buy Rivian EVs to reduce costs and carbon emission

AT&T has announced today a new agreement to buy Rivian electric vehicles (EVs) for the AT&T fleet through a pilot program to cut transport emissions.

Under the agreement signed by both parties, AT&T will get Rivian Commercial Van and R1 vehicles to its fleet in early 2024 to find out its use cases. Meanwhile, the company is looking to move toward carbon neutrality by 2035.

AT&T said its strategy includes optimizing routes, switching to hybrid and EVs, and reducing the overall size of the fleet. The telecom service provider is also using AI for efficient fleet management.

Talking about the vehicle in highlight, the Rivian Commercial Van is designed to be a multi-function vehicle. It has automatic emergency braking, collision warnings, and 360-degree visibility.

The vehicle runs with Rivian’s in-house software and fleet management system to improve efficiency and reduce the overall cost of ownership.
