Tesla rolling out adaptive high beams feature with 2024.2.2 update

Tesla has recently released a new update for EVs and it brings an adaptive high beams feature with a new software version 2024.2.2.

Reported by Notateslaapp, Tesla released this new firmware for only the Upgraded Tesla Model 3 and it aims to reduce glare for other drivers and cyclists on the road.

“By detecting other road users and selectively dimming individual pixels of the headlights, the high beams can remain on longer, enabling better visibility at night” mentioned the changelog.

To enable this feature, you need to go to Lighting > and select Adaptive High Beam lighting in your vehicle settings. Other than high beams, the update also installs new security fixes and improvements for the vehicle.

Users of Tesla vehicles can adjust the high beam using the headlight button on the left side of the steering yoke. Tesla Model S also supports “Auto High Beam”, which can automatically switch to low beam when there is a light detected in front of the Model S.

Tesla vehicle also comes with an adaptive front lighting system (AFS) to automatically adjust the beam of the headlights to improve the driver’s view. Electric sensors can measure driving speed, steering angle, and yaw rotation to determine the optimum position of the headlights based on the current driving conditions.
